What is a Call?

A call is a general term used for inviting users to submit content. Each call typically includes a Submission Phase followed by a Review Phase where a group of reviewers evaluates the submitted content.

Calls can be used for a variety of purposes. Here are some common examples:

  • Call for Conference Papers
    Example: An organization is looking for the best speakers or presentations for an upcoming conference. During the submission phase, individuals upload their papers or session proposals. In the review phase, a committee evaluates the submissions and selects those they want to include in the event.
  • Call for Proposals / RFP (Request for Proposals)
    Example: A company needs to hire a vendor for a specific project. They publish a detailed description of the project on a public website. Interested vendors submit proposals during the submission phase. A team of reviewers then selects the best proposal, and the company proceeds with that vendor.
  • Nomination
    Example: An association is looking to fill open board seats. During the submission phase, users nominate candidates and specify the board position. The current board reviews all nominations and selects the most suitable candidates based on the number or quality of nominations.
